CaravanOfKnowledge
Project Manifesto
A new educational project, "Caravan of Knowledge", has been launched in Kazakhstan. The project has been implemented by an alliance of organizations in partnership with Chevron. Our goal is to support stakeholders and professionals in the field of STEM education and the formation of sustainable links between school, community, and recognized industry experts.

*STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and embodies the principle of interdisciplinary learning.

With the help of STEM, children develop scientific and mathematical thinking and gain engineering and technical skills - the most in-demand knowledge in today's post-industrial world. Like other areas of education, the quality of STEM education depends on the teachers, the school infrastructure and the extended education market. By teaching one teacher, we can improve the quality of knowledge of hundreds of his/her students.

We want to support teachers: to convey knowledge of new approaches to learning; to share experience in using STEM methods; to help with the implementation of inclusive education; to discuss fundamental pedagogical issues; and to examine current problems in the educational field and their solutions.

We want to provide an opportunity for participants in the educational market to present their solutions and discuss prospects for development. We also encourage existing STEM communities to join this enterprise with the active participation of the Chevron partners. Those we would encourage to join include the Republican Physics and Mathematics School; the popular science journal OYLA; the US Consulate General; the British Council; the International IT University; and Nazarbayev University and others.

We want to support formation of sustainable links between everyone who is interested in education – parents; schoolchildren; public workers; school administration; business people and so on.

"Caravan of Knowledge" will be implemented in several stages:

  1. Applied research: "STEM education in Kazakhstan: Current status and development prospects". June 1 - July 31, 2020;
  2. A series of online seminars and online workshops from national and international experts. June 15 - July 19, 2020;
  3. Online hands-on workshop on 7 directions of the Caravan on the main project platform. July 20 - September 4, 2020;
  4. Continuation of the work of the STEM community
